WHY I LOVE TEACHERS?

When I was young I dreamed of becoming a teacher just like my Uncle. But when he asked us (together with my cousins) to check the papers of his students, I was shocked because of too many papers. Then, changed my mind.

During high school when we were asked as to what was our dream I told my favorite teacher that I wanted to become a Flight Stewardess and my teacher agreed. I am fascinated looking at them standing tall and walking gracefully as if ramp models - just don't mind the luggage.

Every day, what you want changes. Even at the last minute, I couldn't decide which one should I take and I end up taking Computer Engineering. Now here comes the major subject and I had this one professor who's very strict and I heard that he graduated from Manila (oh, I came from one of the beautiful provinces in Mindanao - South Cotabato) and at the end of the semester, I failed. I felt sad and got furious with my professor. I began to badmouth him (sorry for that but I really can't help it). I felt so frustrated during that time and I told myself I will not extend another year in College (fear of being left behind by my classmates) So what I did, I checked on the syllabus and compared between Electronics and Communications Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Between the two courses - Electrical Engineering is feasible that I will be able to finish the course within the time frame.

I graduated Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering but the sad this is that - I did not become a Flight Stewardess and Electrical Engineer. Do you know where I was headed? My first job was in mechanical engineering works. I was a purchasing officer trainee because during that time the purchasing officer is pregnant and is scheduled to give birth. I only worked for 3 months and applied again. Luckily, I was hired as Marketing Staff in an immigration consultancy firm in Makati. I lasted for over two years and planned to work abroad but did not last long as well.

I ventured into business. Hoping that I will become an entrepreneur. I learned a lot from this training but then I guess I still lack some skills. So, I shifted and enrolled to gain units in Education. See that? Education? Isn't it funny?

Yes, you heard me loud and clear. I took up thirty (30) units of education and luckily after that I was able to teach computer subjects for three (3) years in a private school. Isn't it ironic? From avoiding to become a teacher and not finishing computer engineering - I end up both. It seems like they are my long lost love hidden at the bottom of my heart.

I may be fickle-minded but then what you really love will always prevail. I am certain that this is my calling. On a different platform.

When I enrolled in an online freelancing course, I was able to gain skills in lead generation, social media management and marketing, email marketing, and even digital marketing but seems like the universe is guiding me to online teaching.

Why am I sharing this? It is because we are celebrating World Teacher's Day. I don't want to miss this opportunity to feature the noblest and awesome teachers around the world for their dedication to molding a child's character. Who I am today is because of you my Teachers. I know how do they work that even on weekends they prepare lesson plans and exciting activities for the students. You are indeed AWESOME.

Happy World Teacher's Day!!
